Walter Bauer has no trailer, for decades in the service of his guests on a formidable level. His concept pulls Walter Bauer through consistently: Small and fine, he himself in a suit directs the store, never revolutionary changes, in almost imperceptible steps only. The Leberkäs at the beginning lets the guest land safely. And then the ox cheeks with morels and polenta! Vorzüglichst. This is how cooking must be!

As always with the Walter Bauer team, an enjoyable evening. Perfect service paired with classic cuisine at a high level. The vintage depth of the wine list is wonderful, top wines apart from the peculiar natural wine scene. Walter Bauer-always happy.

There were 04/29/2019. We ordered Viennese schnitzel, soup and tomato salad. The tomato salad turned out to be just a cut of hard, unripe tomatoes, sprinkled with vinegar. Soup gave the taste of cube Knorr, schnitzel turned out to be an extremely thin piece of meat thickly lined with breadcrumbs from crackers. The service is extremely tactless, the waiters now and then tried to grab a plate, when they were leaning back in the chair :) all the time they looked at the plates and circled in flocks. The price tag is not very small!

A bit below par for my expectations.Found the place in the Michelin book, and expected a bit more. Consistent quality with the dishes but the "wow"-effect was missing. Starter with Leberkäse was a bit different but would have needed slightly more innovation.

Animated by a television report, we decided to plan a side trip to the Walter Bauer restaurant the next time we visited Vienna. If five stars are awarded, then everything should actually be coherent. It is strongly recommended to reserve a table as there are only a limited number of tables. We liked the welcome and the offer to choose between several seats. The distance to the next table is also very pleasant, because you want to enjoy some privacy. The staff is extremely friendly and helped to overcome one or the other "Austrian language barrier". The food is / was an absolute pleasure. Everything is right! Freshly prepared! Simply a feast for the palate! The wine list is very extensive and well sorted. Everyone will find a good drop here. The price-performance ratio is good. A visit that's worth it.

In the 1st district definitely an insider tip and no tourist trap. Upscale cuisine with excellent service and nice ambience. The certain something for 5 stars is missing though. Nevertheless, I have very strong 4 stars!

Very good location. For a Michelin starred restaurant the place was eerily empty. The menu is very Austrian. Deliciously prepared but not sure about the freshness is the ingredients. Very expensive and overall the experience wasn't good because of the empty place.

What's not to love?! Delicious food, great service, and I'm so grateful for the extra effort made to accommodate my dietary restrictions.

We didn’t like the ‘wild rabbit’ dish and sent it back to the kitchen as it was misrepresented in the menu. An issue the staff said was a result of mistranslation. Upon receiving the bill I inquired if the dish was mandatory to pay for and the waiter immediately replied “if you don’t pay, I will call the police” and smiled. I wanted to avoid any confrontation in front of my wife so I immediately agreed to pay the bill but we both found his response to be incredibly insulting. Especially since it was his first reaction. There was no escalation in the conversation to warrant a response like that. I asked for the owners information to file a complaint and the waiter said he was the owner and had been for the past 30 years. Something he seemed proud about but I hope his demeanor was more accommodating in the past. I’ve never felt more insulted at a restaurant before. My wife agrees.

The restaurant offers the very best of old school, solid cosiness and high quality food - tradition combined with creative modernity. Super professional service combined with friendliness. We will definitely be back! And hope that this place will remain for a long time.

Mega! The best kitchen I have ever eaten in Vienna. There is actually nothing vegetarian on the menu: My job to the cook: Vegetarian and gluten-free cooking no matter what. It was sensational. A small, unassuming place that plays all the pieces and offers top wines. Real, really a great experience. Thank you!

Great restaurant, great service, wonderful food. Only the ambience is not at the level of the rest of the experience. But that shouldn't be taken into account in the overwhelming performance of the service and the kitchen.

Because of the many positive recessions, we also went to the farmer.At the beginning, Mr. Bauer was also very nice and talkative ...But after he noticed that we are also familiar with wine, and thus also know the overpriced prices, the friendliness was over!The food was good but not outstanding. Better look than taste.And overall it was too expensive for the size of the servings to go there more often.We also find something salted for a wine from € 100.
